Introduction Even if you've never flown a radio controlled (RC) aircraft before, the HobbyZone® Apprentice® S 2 1.2m is designed to make learning to fly with a "classic" trainer model easy and fun! This is an updated version of one of our best-selling training aircraft - the Mini Apprentice S 1.2 m - and has been scaled down from the larger E-flite Apprentice STS 1.5 m, making it more affordable and easier to fly in large parks or sports fields in addition to airfields. The Apprentice S 2 is equipped with Horizon Hobby's exclusive and innovative SAFE technology, which makes it possible for almost anyone to successfully learn to fly. Under its rugged exterior, pilots will find an efficient brushless motor along with a telemetry-enabled ESC and factory-installed receiver and servos. The wide tripod landing gear with steerable nose wheel and oversized tires provides improved ground handling for easier takeoffs and landings. Optional floats can also be mounted for launches and landings on the water!

The HobbyZone Apprentice® S 2 1.2m is the perfect trainer because it makes learning to fly a model easier and more fun than ever before! With a "classic" trainer design, the Apprentice S 2 is ready to teach budding pilots model flying in no time. It features exclusive SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology that helps prevent oversteer, loss of orientation and crashes, so almost anyone can learn to fly successfully. Beginner, Intermediate and Expert modes let you select the level of stability and control you need when you're ready to try it with the flick of a switch. And you can instantly return to a stable flying position with the push of a panic button! Oversized tires and a steerable nose wheel make it easy to take off and land on a variety of surfaces, including grass at large parks, sports fields and other suitable flying sites. Or you can mount the optional floats to fly from the water - again increasing versatility!

The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) Basic version includes everything needed to fly except for the battery and charger. This way, you can choose a convenient Spektrum™ Powerstage package or the separate battery and charger you prefer! Plus, the included Spektrum DXS 2.4 GHz transmitter can be used with other Bind-N-Fly® (BNF) and BNF Basic aircraft after you learn to successfully master the Apprentice S 2! A BNF Basic version is also available for experienced pilots who want to use their existing Spektrum transmitter along with their battery and charger, if that is already available. And in both versions, the powerful and efficient brushless drive system, including a telemetry-enabled controller, receiver and servos, is already factory-assembled in the durable EPO airframe, which can be quickly and easily assembled without glue or special tools.

And the fun doesn't stop after you learn to fly! In expert mode, the Apprentice S 2 is capable of performing aerobatic maneuvers, including loops, rolls, inverted flight and more. You can even use the same DXS transmitter included with the RTF Basic version, along with the same battery and charger you use for the Apprentice, to fly a variety of "Next Step" Basic BBNF aircraft - including the E-flite® T- 28 Trojan 1.1m, Valiant 1.3m and many more!

You can also purchase the RealFlight Trainer Edition RC Flight Simulator and a Spektrum WS2000 Wireless Simulator Dongle (both sold separately), and fly on the simulator with the remote control included in the RTF Basic version! Many of the most popular Horizon Hobby trainer models can be flown on the simulator, as well as integrated Virtual Flight Instructor lessons. This helps novice pilots successfully learn model flying by allowing them to train on a home PC or laptop!
