Kit of a "380" class 3D helicopter with a 120° CCPM swashplate and a main rotor with a diameter of 875 mm driven by a brushless motor. The KIT version contains: an unassembled model, a brushless motor, 4x servo, a controller, blades of the main and tail rotor.
The popular OMP HOBBY M1 and M2 mini helicopters now have a bigger brother - the 3D "380" class M4. The M4 has a 120° CCPM swashplate with a paddle-less rotor head (FBL). A powerful brushless motor drives the 875 mm diameter main rotor directly and the tail rotor is driven by a toothed belt. You can install your favorite flybarless controller, a 6S 2200 mAh LiPo battery and of course a reliable RC system. 4 digital servos and a 65 A speed controller with speed control function are included with the model.
Let's take a closer look at this latest addition to the OMP Hobby hangar. The fuselage structure is based on two carbon fiber walls connected by a duralumin and plastic crossmember. The "heart" is a duralumin structure supporting a brushless SUNNYSKY R80-5 motor with an attached main shaft housing with bearings and swashplate servo mounts. The main rotor is direct drive and the tail rotor is belt driven. The swashplate and the rotor head with blade grips are all made of metal and precision CNC-machined. All control rods are equipped with tie rods to allow length adjustments without having to remove the ball joints. The tail boom is made of a duralumin tube, the vertical stabilizer and the side walls of the tail rotor drive housing are made of carbon. The rotor head and the blade grips of the tail rotor are also made entirely of metal; the yaw movements are controlled by a servo mounted in the lower fuselage with a carbon rod. The skids are made of robust fiberglass-reinforced plastic.
A basic set of main and tail rotor blades are supplied with the model; 385 mm blades for the main rotor and 71 mm blades for the tail rotor.
You will need at least a 6-channel radio control system to control the helicopter; for conventional and 3D flying you will need a computer transmitter with 2-3 adjustable flight modes with at least one five-point pitch curve setting for hovering and aerobatics and an additional mode for autorotation.
The helicopter is equipped to use an FBL unit - you can easily use most available units suitable for helicopters of this size, such as Bavarian Demon 3X or AXON, Futaba CGY760R or CGY755 and many more.
The PnP version is supplied with 4 fast and powerful digital micro servos. There are 3x DS2312C servos for the swashplate (force 4.9kg.cm, speed 0.073s/60° at 7.4 V) and a DS2312T narrow band servo (neutral position 760µs) for yaw (force 3.5kg.cm, speed 0.053s/60° at 7.4 V). Also included is a 65A electronic speed controller with governor function from OMP HOBBY, which was specially developed for the M4 helicopter.
For the power supply, you need a 6S 22.2 V 2000-2200 mAh LiPo battery with a discharge rate of 60 C, which is required to fully utilize the motor power and capabilities of the helicopter.
The easily removable sport canopy is made of very lightweight, thermoformed, durable plastic - three color schemes are available to ensure good visibility and "readability" of the helicopter's position in the air.
The M4 is a fully-fledged 3D helicopter equipped with pitch control - and therefore requires appropriate pilot experience. It is not a drone where you just accelerate, take off and hover "rooted" without any control inputs. The M4 is flown by advanced pilots who already have experience flying collectively controlled ("six-channel") helicopters. However, with sufficient stamina, humility, prior training on an RC simulator and under the supervision of an experienced pilot, even an inexperienced helicopter pilot can start flying the M4.
