Ball bearings with rubber seal (2RS) are the right for off-road use. Minimization of wear caused by dust and dirt. Thus longer smooth running without creaking or cracking. No maintenance necessary. Slightly higher friction than metal seals, but still much better than plain bearings (or dirty ball bearings with metal seal...).
