Antares kit with GRP hull and laser-cut wooden parts and fittings. Additional accessories such as the rigging set and sails are needed to complete the kit.

The ANTARES is a cutter rigged racing and touring yacht in the typical style of the 20's with excellent sailing characteristics even in stronger winds. Manfred Kaiser-Pletscher, MKP Modellbau, developed this model. The goal was to make a model of this class with modern manufacturing processes also for the advanced beginner possible. Prototypical appearance even in detail, laser wood deck and superstructure in mahogany make the Antares a special model for lovers of classic yachts.

The model is certainly not a mass-produced model; although a finished epoxy hull is included in the kit and all the wooden parts for the deck and superstructure are also available as laser parts, making construction quick and straightforward. The deck is completed as its own load-bearing assembly completely outside the hull and only then glued into the hull as a whole. All materials needed for construction are included. Only the fittings for rigging the mast, such as brass blocks, shroud turnbuckles, stainless steel rope, lines are in the extra supplied rigging kit, which will be needed later. For doldrums, the model has been fitted with an auxiliary propulsion system, which is available as a further accessory kit.

Drawings in 1:1 are included for the sails. You can purchase either fabric to sew yourself or a ready-made sail kit as an add-on. The detailed building instructions, which show each building stage in pictures and also describe the detailed prototypical control of the two headsails, and a detailed building plan make building the model easy even for the non-expert. The model can be equipped with 2 or 3 sail winches. However, the winches can also be installed after completion of the model.

The rigging kit is required as an accessory for the Antares cutter yacht kit. The set contains all parts for rigging the mast, such as brass blocks, shroud tensioners, stainless steel rope and lines.
