The ships of the Norwegian King

In April 1947, a call went out to the Norwegian people to participate in a gift to the King. In July of the same year, the British "Philante" was purchased for this purpose. The Philante was a yacht launched in 1937 and was the largest motor-driven pleasure boat ever built by a British shipyard.

On the occasion of King Haakon's 75th birthday, a model of the ship was presented. The original was to be ready for service as Norway's new royal ship in the summer of 1948 after extensive restoration. On May 17, 1948, the ship's captain was able to hoist the command pennant for the first time. KS NORGE arrived in Oslo on June 7, and the handover took place two days later, on June 9, 1948.

King Haakon VII and the royal family used the royal ship for voyages inside and outside Norway. The King's last voyage with KS NORGE was the dedication of the memorial "Kongebjerken" in Molde.

King Olav V and his family also used the Kongeskipet frequently. There were visits in the counties and abroad. The same is true for the current king, King Harald and his family.

The KS NORGE is the property of the King, but is operated by the Sea Defense. The crew consists of 18 officers and 36 conscripts. These are mainly recruited from KNM Harald Hårfagre in Stavanger.

Kongeskip's elegant and timeless profile hides the ship's age well. This is due to the extensive maintenance and restoration work that has been carried out. The main work was carried out after a catastrophic fire to the ship on March 7, 1984. Many believed the ship was lost, but it reappeared in new splendor as we know it today.

Wooden kit with all fittings and LED lighting. The model can be built either as a standing model or as a driving model for operation with a remote control. For the expansion as an RC model, other accessories such as remote control, rudder servo, speed controller, motors, shaft system, clutch and battery are required.
