Mercedes W196 Fangio #8 IXO 1:8 Metal floor model kit

The Mercedes-Benz W196 R was designed by Rudolf Uhlenhaut and Fritz Nallinger. Due to its streamlined shape, it was able to reach high speeds. The W196 R was built fourteen times including the prototype. Starting with the European Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, they switched to a version with free-standing wheels, which is also known as a monoposto. On a technical level, the car was built to the highest quality of the time and featured, for example, a trellis frame, torsion-bar suspension, swing-arm suspension, and turbo-cooled duplex drum brakes. The 290 hp cars were driven by Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss. The two were able to achieve nine victories from twelve Grand Prix races.
