The Dodge Charger of 1968 was the second, highly desirable version of the concept of a sporty vehicle at affordable prices from Dodge. The sleek fastback body conveyed dynamism even when stationary. Under the hood, engines with up to 425 hp from 7 liters of displacement provided breathtaking propulsion. With it one was the safe winner with each traffic light running. Many describe the Charger of 1968 as perhaps the most beautiful US coupé of the decade. The success was also reflected in numbers. 96100 vehicles were brought to the satisfied customers. The Dodge Charger became internationally famous as the opponent of Steve McQueen's Ford in the chase through San Francisco in the film Bullit .
