The Japanese GT car championship was inaugurated in 1993 and became increasingly popular among motorsport fans in Japan. During the 1995 season, Toyota entered this event with a race-tuned version of the popular Supra GT. The latest racetrack technology was incorporated into the body of the Supra, allowing even better aerodynamics to be achieved. Additional air intakes as well as the huge rear spoiler and the oversized fender gave the Toyota Supra GT its special appearance. An outstanding performance in the 1995 season was achieved by Sekiya and Krumm, who drove in the Castrol Tom's Supra.
