Italeri 5625 Speedboat S-26 / S-38, kit, 1:35

Between the two wars, many navies carried out programs to develop torpedo boat flotillas that could carry out both patrol and attack missions. Compared to the First World War, the new engine technologies ensured better performance and greater operational efficiency. In the 1930s, the German navy developed the famous S-class torpedo motorboats. From 1939 to 1940, the S-26 series was built, which can be recognized by an integrated foredeck with two 533 mm torpedo tubes. The aesthetic solution of the bow was also retained and improved for later versions. The S-38 version is one of the best-known speedboats, with almost 100 units produced with a length of 35 meters and a displacement of over 100 tons at full load. Thanks to its 12-cylinder Daimler-Benz engines, it could reach a top speed of 39.5 knots.
