Type 4-4-0 locomotive, also called American Locomotives, built in 1868 along with locomotives Nos. 116, 117, 118, and 120 by Rogers Locomotive and Machine Works of Paterson, New Jersey. No. 119 was at the Ogden, Utah, station when a call was received from Thomas C. Durant, then vice president of Union Pacific, who was on his way to Promontory Summit and desperately needed a locomotive.

Something similar had happened to Leland Stanford, who requested the Jupiter after the failure of the Antelope, which thus went down in history along with the Rogers 119. Durant was on the Durant Special train with a number of dignitaries to the Golden Spike Ceremony at Promontory.

Along the way, high water had ripped away some of the piers of the so-called Devil's Bridge. The engineer refused to cross the bridge with the heavy locomotive, but agreed to push the lighter passenger cars across. The bridge stopped and the passenger cars got to other river banks. But they no longer had a locomotive.

Ogden was asked to help, and locomotive No. 119 finally pulled the cars the short remaining distance to Promontory. There it met the Central Pacific's Jupiter.

The 119 continued to serve as a freight locomotive and was later given the number 343. When it was finally scrapped in 1903, the sale of its parts netted a whopping $1,000.

Spectacular model the railroad nº119 together with model railroad locomotive Jupiter to complete a famous pair.
