Assemble this beautiful streetcar model Lisboa step by step. Switch off from everyday life with this creative form of recreation and build a detailed replica of a historic streetcar.
The original of this streetcar belonged to the 701/735 series of the Portuguese railroad company Compañia de Carris de Ferro de Lisboa and was built between 1936 and 1940.
These streetcars were considered the safest in Lisbon, as they were equipped with a reinforced braking system.
They were therefore used on lines with difficult routes, such as lines 12, 25 and 28, where there were gradients of up to 12%. The model was considered the world's strongest streetcar with single wheel adhesion.
It was equipped with five types of brakes: pneumatic brake, mechanical brake, electric brake, electromagnetic brake with brake shoes and mechanical brake with brake shoes. It was equipped with two powerful 45-horsepower electric motors from Metropolitan Vickers and a Brill 21-E truck from Maley & Tauton. The body of the kit model corresponds to the standard Lisbon version, based on the American design of Brill. Particularly characteristic is the rigidly curved roof.
The streetcar was in service unchanged until the introduction of a new model of the series between 1985 and 1987. Then the cars were converted to single-passenger operation (driver/conductor in one) by installing pneumatic doors and turn signals and closing the doors on one side.
Starting in 1995, the cars were gradually taken out of service and replaced by 500 series streetcars. A few old cars are still occasionally used for reinforcement in regular service or can be rented for special events.
Immerse yourself in the era when these streetcars roamed the streets.
